When evidence meets the ice bath

I tried explaining the effect size of cryotherapy on DOMS at 6:30 a.m., and the coldest thing in the lab was the reception. What’s your funniest attempt to translate RCTs on shiny interventions — BFR cuffs, PRP injections, or percussive guns — into athlete-ready language without inflating the effect sizes?

At 6:30 a.m. I translate ‘effect size’ into a bet: cryo is a 1–2% nudge — maybe one less ouch on day‑two squats, not a PR — and we run a single-session A/B where they rate DOMS 0–10 before and 24h after. If it doesn’t beat their normal by ≥1 point, we ditch it and lean on sleep and load tweaks instead?
